In Make It Live, students build and publish real websites for real community partners.

We will begin with people. For each project, we will learn about a client, identify their audience and goals, organize content, create a site map, and sketch the website on paper before building anything digitally.

From there, we will use assistive AI design and development tools to turn their ideas into working websites. Along the way, we will learn how the web actually works—including domains, DNS, hosting, HTML, CSS, responsive design, accessibility, troubleshooting, and other technical concepts as they become relevant to the work.

This is a studio course. Students will not spend weeks learning technical concepts in isolation before they are allowed to build. We will learn by making real things, encountering real problems, and figuring out how to solve them.

Over the semester, we will complete multiple website projects as gifts to local organizations and community partners.

The goal is not to ask AI to make a website.

The goal is to become someone who can listen to a client, understand a problem, design a thoughtful solution, use technology strategically, troubleshoot what goes wrong, and deliver something both beautiful and useful.
